In late October 2012, a hurricanespawned superstorm struck the heavily populated northeastern US, leaving massive flooding and destruction in its wake. During the storm, more than 8 million customers lost electricity. Power outages alone caused shortages of food, fuel, and water, along with the chaos of gridlocked transportation. Like a storm of nature, a personal tragedy can often leave us feeling powerless and in the dark. But, at our lowest point, drained of emotional resources, we can place our hope in the Lord and find our strength in Him. God is our spiritual power source in every storm of life.
2012년 10월 하순경, 허리케인이 몰고 온 초대형 폭풍이 인구밀도가 높은 미국 동북부 지역을 휩쓸었고 폭풍이 지나간 자리에는 엄청난 홍수와 파괴를 남겨 놓았습니다. 그 태풍이 지나가는 동안 8백만 이상의 주민이 정전사태를 겪었습니다. 정전이 되자 교통마비로 인한 혼란은 물론, 식료품, 휘발유, 음료수 부족사태가 발생했습니다. 자연의 폭풍처럼, 개인적인 비극도 우리에게 무력감과 어둠 속에 갇힌 느낌을 가져다줍니다. 하지만 우리가 감정적으로 고갈되어 나락에 떨어졌을 때, 우리는 희망을 주님 안에 두고 주님 안에서 힘을 얻을 수 있습니다. 하나님은 인생에 폭풍이 닥칠 때마다 우리에게 영적인 힘의 원천이 되십니다.
