A friend once spent a day installing large stone steps in his backyard. His 5-year-old daughter begged to help. Carefully, when it would not endanger her, he let her place her hands on the rocks as he moved them. “Me and Dad made steps,” she announced at dinner that night. From the beginning, God has relied on people to advance His work. God left the work of the garden in Adam’s hands. Thousands of artists and craftsmen worked to fashion a tabernacle and temple. When Jesus proclaimed the new reign of God’s kingdom on earth, He invited human beings to help. As a father does with his children, so does God welcome us as His kingdom partners.
한 친구가 어느 날 뒷마당에 커다란 디딤돌들을 놓느라고 하루 종일 시간을 보낸 적이 있었습니다. 그 날 다섯 살짜리 딸아이가 그를 도와주겠다고 졸랐습니다. 그래서 그는 그다지 위험하지 않은 때를 골라, 돌을 옮길 때 조심스럽게 딸의 손을 돌 위에 얹을 수 있게 해주었습니다. 그날 저녁식사 때 딸아이가 이렇게 말했습니다. “아빠하고 내가 디딤돌을 놓았어.” 창세부터 하나님은 사람들을 통하여 하나님의 일을 해오셨습니다. 하나님은 에덴동산 관리를 아담에게 맡기셨습니다. 성막과 성전을 세우기 위해 수많은 예술가와 장인들이 힘써 일했습니다. 그리고 예수님이 이 땅 위에서의 하나님나라의 새로운 통치를 선
