Mariners and navigators began relying on the Southern Cross as early as the 15th century for direction and navigation through the seas. It was so vivid on that dark night. The Scriptures tell us of an even more magnificent cross─the cross of Christ. When we look at the stars, we see the handiwork of the Creator; but when we look at the cross, we see the Creator dying for His creation. Christ’s cross provides the only safe crossing into eternity. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is the greatest of all wonders!
선원들과 항해사들은 바다에서 항해할 때 방향을 잡기 위해 일찍이 15세기부터 남십자성에 의지하기 시작했습니다. 남십자성은 그 어둔 밤에 너무도 명확합니다. 성경은 우리에게 더 굉장한 십자가, 바로 그리스도의 십자가에 대해 이야기합니다. 우리가 별들을 바라보면, 우리는 창조주께서 손수 지으신 것을 보게 됩니다. 하지만 십자가를 바라보면, 우리는 자신의 피조물을 위해 죽어가는 창조주를 보게 됩니다. 그리스도의 십자가는 영생에 이르는 하나밖에 없는 안전한 건널목을 제공해줍니다. 그리스도가 십자가 위에서 치른 희생은 모든 경이로움 중 가장 위대한 것입니다!
