In the Czech Republic and other places, the Christmas celebration includes “Christingles.” A Christingle is an orange, representing the world, with a candle placed in the top of it to symbolize Christ the light of the world. A red ribbon encircles the orange, symbolizing the blood of Jesus. Four toothpicks with dried fruits are placed through the ribbon into the sides of the orange, representing the fruits of the earth. This simple visual aid vividly represents the purpose behind Christ’s coming-to bring light into the darkness and to redeem a broken world by shedding His blood.
체코 공화국을 비롯한 다른 지역에서는 크리스마스를 축하하는 것의 하나로 “크리스팅글”이라는 것이 있습니다. 크리스팅글이란 세상을 의미하는 오렌지에 세상의 빛이신 그리스도를 상징하는 초를 꽂고, 예수님의 보혈을 상징하는 빨간 리본을 오렌지에 두른 후 그 리본 위에 이 땅의 열매를 상징하는 마른 과일들을 네 개의 이쑤시개로 꽂아 놓는 것입니다. 이 간단한 상징은 예수님께서 어두운 세상에 빛을 가져오고 그의 피 흘리심으로 타락한 세상을 구원하시기 위해 오신 목적을 생생하게 보여줍니다.
